As of July 2005, we have details of the following requests for volunteers. Please contact directly to the persons/institutions given, and inform them that you heard about these openings from the Volunteers in Bhutan website.
  • Kilu Music School is looking for volunteer teachers, who can teach a few hours a week in either music theory or teach an instrument. Kilu Music School opened in March 2005 and is the first of its kind in Bhutan. The school is so far running mainly with the help and commitment of volunteers, but has recently employed a part time administrator. The school is open for students at any age and has currently 25 children enrolled in private as well as group classes and another 30 children on its waiting list. The school is located above the Hospital. If you know of an instrument and are interested in teaching at Kilu Music School please contact the school administrator Phub Wangdi Monday to Thursday between 4 and 7 pm at 323269 or send an email to: KiluMusicSchool@druknet.bt (posted: July 2005)

  • Interested in teaching monks? VIB has learned that Engliash language classes are being provided to young monks by volunteer teachers. If you would be interested in this kind of programme, please contact Laurence laurence_levaque@druknet.bt (tel: 17624074) if you are interested in teaching at Simtokha Buddhist Institute approx 09.30 to 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday mornings.

Do you need help from volunteers to support you in your social or development work?

To register as a potential recipient of volunteer support, send in full details about you or your organisation, specifying the social or development work you are engaged in - and, if relevant, highlighting any of the MDGs (see below) that your work may help achieve. Give details of the specific role the volunteer(s) would have, what skills or qualities they would need to have, and if relevant, when (e.g. what times) you would need them to come, and for how long they would be needed. Note that volunteers would not be expecting to receive any salary; however, contributions towards any costs they incur (e.g. travelling to/from your institution) can be offered. Some hosts of volunteers may like to offer certificates to volunteers who hade successfully completed their assignments.

Send in your application for registration, by e-mail or in hard copy, to the VIB Committee, whose address appears at the foot of this page. Please indicate if you would be willing to have the information you provide advertised on this web-page.
