10 TEAMS FIGHT IT OUT AT ROYAL BHUTAN POLICE GROUND, THIMPHU, SUNDAY 5TH DECEMBER

After lighting 1,000 butter-lamps at Thimphu's Memorial Chorten, ten teams battled it out in a friendly Tug-of-War contest at the nearby Royal Bhutan Police ground.

In the final, the police team was victorious against a volunteer team of VSA and UNV and friends. The same day, this VIB website was launched by Chief Guest UN Resident Coordinator Renata Lok Dessallien. Announcement was also made of the launch of the new 'Volunteers in Beautiful Bhutan' photo competition, with Nu 40,000 in prizes to be won - for details and entry form, click HERE.

Meanwhile, Bhutan was represented by Dasho Meghraj Gurung at an international conference in Islamabad, Pakistan, on the role of volunteerism in the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
